A family residence permit depends on the relationship and the sponsor's legal position in Turkey. A marriage certificate is essential evidence but does not replace the assessment of income, accommodation, insurance and the applicant's current status.
Legal requirements and important distinctions
Identify whether the sponsor is a Turkish citizen or holds another qualifying status. For children, age, dependency, custody and consent from the other parent may affect the file. An entry ban or deportation decision is not automatically cancelled by marriage. Divorce, death or domestic violence can change the available residence route and should be considered individually.
Documents and practical preparation
Prepare current civil records for each family member. Match name spellings, previous surnames and dates across passports and marriage or birth records. Determine authentication and Turkish translation requirements before ordering documents abroad. Track the applicant's existing lawful stay while collecting sponsor documents; a pending family plan does not itself extend that stay.
