A student residence permit does not by itself authorise employment. The degree level, active enrolment and proposed job must be assessed together with the employer’s work-permit application.
Undergraduate and postgraduate students
Under current Ministry criteria, students enrolled in full-time associate and bachelor programmes may work part-time after completing their first academic year. These first-year and part-time restrictions do not apply to enrolled postgraduate students. A work permit and the remaining requirements still apply.
Prepare the employer file
Student status is checked against Higher Education Council records. The employer should prepare the contract, job description and company records for the applicable application route. Scholarship schemes can require an opinion from YTB or YÖK. Filing an application is not permission to begin work.

Sector restrictions and refusal risks
Applications for domestic services and entertainment jobs incompatible with student status are assessed negatively. The province of study and the proposed employment can matter. An exemption from assessment criteria is distinct from exemption from the work permit itself.
Timing, charges and a refusal
Reviewed on 8 October 2026: use current Ministry criteria, the contract and the individual permit decision to assess duration. Official charges depend on the applicable assessment; translation and professional costs are separate. Preserve a refusal and notification record to assess administrative review or court proceedings.
